First released in 1945, the Rolex Air-King was founder Hans Wilsdorf’s tribute to the British pilots of the Second World War. It went on to become a firm favourite with commercial airline pilots in the 1950s and 60s. The success of this simple, yet eminently reliable watch, meant Rolex hardly touched the design for four decades, although it has since added a sapphire crystal, new movements and an engine-turned bezel. This pre-owned reference 114234 features a stainless-steel bracelet and case, bright Roman numerals and a particularly rare diamond dial. This is a lovely, timeless sports watch that makes an equally stylish dress watch.
