Production of reference 5040 was launched in 1992 and ceased around 2007. The majority were cased in yellow gold, then in platinum, in white gold and a very limited number in pink gold.
Between a tonneau-shaped and cushion-shaped, this wristwatch pay tribute to the complicated 1930s tortue PP wristwatches. the 5040 has a very particular look, some people hate, some others love it.
Patek Philippe perpetual calendar are accepted to have the best layout ever found on perpetual calendars. This self-winding movement (cal. 240 Q ) allows the owner to adjust each calendar function separately, using the gold and wooden PP push pin.
