First launched back in the late 1960s, the Ellipse is Patek Philippe’s second oldest watch model. Yet, time and again (unfairly we think!) it has been overshadowed by the Calatrava. These days it tends to be a favourite among only the most ardent Patek Philippe collectors, but with its unique mathematical proportions and understated aesthetic – not to mention the industry’s love of raiding its own history books for inspiration – we reckon the Ellipse is overdue a renaissance. A real sleeper prospect in our eyes.
